SCOTTSBLUFF--Edward C. Colling died Saturday (Oct. 3, 1987) at his home in Scottsbluff at the age of 77. He was born July 4, 1910 in Indianola to Mathias and Elizabeth (Uerling) Colling.
He was married to Genevieve Withheld, Aug. 29,1931.
He attended medical school in Kirksville, Mo., and had lived in Scottsbluff since 1937.
He was president of the Sunny Day Resources Oil Company, from which he retired in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, of Scottsbluff; three sons, Larry of Rawlins, Wyo., Chuck of Gering and Tom of Scottsbluff; three daughters, Liane Colling of Ojai, Calif., Mary Withheld of Ventura, Calif. and Susan Withheld of Lancaster, Pa.; one brother, Ray of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Carrie Withheld of Scottsbluff and Mary Withheld of McCook; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial mass will be held tonight at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Robert Karnish officiating. Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola. A memorial mass will be held at St. Catherine's Friday at 10 a.m.
Inurnment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be brought to the rosary or funeral mass.
The Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of the arrangements.

1997 Geri had a heart condition and Diabetes. She almost died of a heart attack and her daughter came to take care of her as she was a LPN. Geri improved and her daughter moved her back to her home. She died of a heart attack while with her daughter.

Genevieve A. "Geri" Colling, 83, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster, PA.
She was born November 29, 1914 at Glenwood Springs, CO, and was the daughter of James and Harriet (Davis) Withheld in Indianola. Prior to graduating from Indianola High School; she studied at Loretta School of Music in Denver and the Conservatory of Musical at Boulder. She married Edward Charles Colling on August 29,1931. They lived in Billings, Montana, and Mitchell before moving to Scottsbluff in 1935, where she had resided since.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Women of the Moose, the St. Agnes Altar Society, and the Scotts Bluff Country Club. Some of her home-based endeavors included hot meals and hospitality for neighborhood college kids, an infant day care for working parents, and a mail order homemade beef jerky business.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Edward "Chuck" Colling, Jr., and Tom and Kim Colling, all of Scottsbluff; daughters and sons-in-law, Liane Colling of Ojai, CA, Mary and Tom Withheld of Kernersville, NC, and Susan and Jack Withheld of Lancaster, PA; a brother, Ray Black of Silver Lake, WA; fourteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, son Larry, daughter Carol, and five brothers.
Funeral Mass for Geri Colling was held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Paul Colling officiating. Entombment was at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Scottsbluff. A vigil service was held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to the family.
