Caroline Catherine "Carrie" Withheld
LONGMONT, Colo. - Caroline Catherine "Carrie" Withheld, 97, died Monday (Aug. 19, 1996) at the Applewood Living Center in Longmont, Colo.
She was born Jan. 30, 1899, at Indianola to Mathias and Elizabeth (Uerling)Colling.
On April 14, 1926, she married Glenn Eddy Withheld at Indianola. She taught in a one-room school in the Indianola area, as well as working in a bank and playing a player piano in a theater.
She moved from Indianola to Scottsbluff in 1942 where she lived until 1993 when she moved to Longmont.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1963, her son, Joseph; her daughter, Frances; her sisters, Frances Dempewolf and Mary Withheld; and her brothers, Louis, Raymond, Edward and Matt Colling
Survivors include her sons, Merle "Ed" Withheld and wife, Donna, of Gering and Gerald "Mike" Withheld and wife, Barbara, of Caldwell, Idaho; her daughters, Eleanor Withheld and husband, Henry, of Longmont, Jean Withheld and husband, Orville, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Patricia Withheld and husband, Vern, and Virginia Withheld and husband, Marvin, all of Westminster, Colo.; 39 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The rosary and vigil service will be held today at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. MDT at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont with Deacon Bill Lee officiating.
Interment will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.
