Marriage Notes: 1915 Louis and Susie O'Dea were married at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola, Nebraska on April 21st. Matt Colling was best man and Irene O'Dea the bridesmaid.
Mrs. John Strunk made wedding & bridesmaid's dress as a wedding gift, from material purchased at Clapps in McCook, Mrs. Teel did the flowers because the McCook greenhouse forgot to send them on train. Louis was 24 & Withheld 23. A fall wedding had to be cancelled due to the illness of Greatgrandmother. Their first home was south of Red Willow.

1928 bought a new green Pontiac

1930 Withheld born Feb 9 at home and named by siblings. a spinster aunt helped with the birthing and stayed till Withheld was able to care for all the children. The house was remodeled-old box car (Lucille said they could get old box cars from the railroad for almost nothing and would take off the wheels and add them to house for extra rooms. The kids would crawl out on top of them in the summer to sleep when their rooms were warm.) kitchen razed, new kitchen, hallway, basement and bedroom added by Pete Goodenkauf - head builder

1935 Republican River flooded bottom garden and lands, Family quarantined for scarlet fever

1936 Withheld was born at St. Catherines hospital Mar 15, only child born in a hospital, the rest at home

1938 family, even dad, quarantined with smallpox

1940 Silver Wedding celebration given by family, Gift of Silverware, First grandchild born Sep 30 at St. Catherine's hospital and named Gerald Lee.

1947 Family reunion held at home place, Lucille visits from Idaho

1953 2nd family reunion at McCook Park

1958 They visit Lucille in Idaho & spend Christmas with her.

17 Dec 1960 They move to 4th home, 710 E. 4th, McCook, Red Willow, Nebraska.

1962 Easter, visit Withheld & Withheld's family in WI, Spend summer in Seattle with Withheld's family, see Sister Lucia take 1st vows, then to Bonners Ferry, Idaho with Lucille's family, and to Portland, Oregon to visit Ray and Lucy Colling.

1964 reunion at Indianola

1965 Open House observing the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Louis and Susie held Apr 19 from 2pm to 5pm. 125 attended the Open House and the Mass on Apr 21. Father McCullough served Massand officiated at renewal of vows. Alfred and Mildred are attendants. Withheld and Withheld Colling were Altar boys. Withheld and Withheld and their families attend.
Approximately 150 friends and relatives attended an open house Sunday afternoon, Apr 18, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Louis Colling on their golden wedding anniversary. Withheld Colling and
Withheld welcomed the guests and were in charge of the guest book.
A three tiered wedding cake made by Mrs. George Patterson, decorated the serving table. Mrs. Withheld was in charge of the gift table. Mrs. Withheld Colling, Mildred, Doloris, Susan and Joyce assisted with the serving.
Attending from out of town were Mrs. Joe Haag and Frances, the Bob McBride family, Danbury, Mr/s. Walt Stratman, Stratton, Mrs. Chris Miller, Mrs. Bob Korrell, Culbertson and Mr/s. Meredith Lytle, Colby, Kansas. The honored couple received many cards and gifts.
On Wednesday, Apr 21, the date of their wedding, a mass was held at St. Patrick's Church at which time Mr/s. Colling repeated their wedding vows. Mildred and husband were their attendants. Matt Colling, who was best man, was killed in World War I. Withheld of Kearney was Mrs. Colling's attendant, but was unable to attend the mass. The Rev. Francis McCullough performed the ceremony.

Jun 1973 Lucille and husband of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Mr/s Withheld, Kirkland, WA, Mr/s G.W. Colling and sons of Folsom, Pennsylvania, Mr/s. JJ Colling and children of La Crosse, WI and Mr/s. BM Colling of Onalashka, WI plan to spend the weekend of June 23 and 24 with their parents Mr/s. Louis Colling and other relatives in the community.

15 Feb 1967 Sold Farm, 400 of acres of land and feeding equipment at Public auction.

In the after-glow of the 1995 Colling Reunion, I want to thank each and every one of you for your cooperation and participation. There were 115 people signing the Guest Book of whom 91 were the direct descendants of Louis and Susie Colling. 45 members were unable to attend. There were 20 cousins in attendance, and 20 friends and classmates.
