Henry and Katherine Colling

Apr 2007 E-mail from Rozetta Thorkelson: The other piece of information I wanted to share is a marriage date and place for Henry Collng and Kathrina Becker.
The quote below comes from a sworn statement by Henry Colling regarding the pension claim of his brother William from the U.S. government. It is part of the Civil War veteran file of William Colling in the National Archive in Washington D.C. I have a copy of this file at my home.
"That as near as I can figure it I saw William within the 7th or 8th of July 1865. I was married on the 6th of July 65, and Wm. came to our house on his way home from the army. I saw him in Chicago ... I had simply gone there to get married and as we were going home brother William was on the same train."

1872 Henry's farm is in Section 25 of the Virgil Township map of Kane County. It lies west and north of Elburn, Illinois no more than 2 miles. 2
1872 Kane Co. Atlas, Picture of house pg. 5 (NE of Elburn, Kane, Illinois, where his parents, Elisabeth and Theodor Colling, spent their final days.
